Voice of Cimla
Many of those who know and love Cimla have made their views on the LDP Candidate Sites in the area known. Here is just a snapshot of the feeling shared by residents across the area.
· The simple truth is these proposals are based purely on greed.
· I would plead with you to leave alone the one place of natural beauty left.
· I am strongly opposed to further destruction of any greenfield areas or woodland at or near any of the sites. This should all be preserved for the local community & future generations.
· If this was given the go ahead, we are asking for trouble!
· The Planning Dept would be better occupied in plans to maintain, develop and restore such parts of the urban infrastructure as the sewers in the old centre of Neath where the stench from the broken underground pipes is appalling.
· Cimla at the moment is big enough.
· When the nation's food security has for the first time in several generations become an important economic/political issue, any proposal to destroy existing or potential agricultural land can only be regarded as irresponsible and imprudent.
· The current landscape of Neath would be changed forever.
· The entire town of Neath would suffer should any further building of the scale indicated ever be allowed.
· I felt completely sickened to see the immense areas of green fields and woodland that are part of the Local Development Plan.
· This is a Machiavellian approach to future planning that does not and cannot
exist in a
democratic and open society.
· In Neath Port Talbot the volume of traffic per unit length of road is almost double that in Wales and the rates of road accidents and casualties per length of road are more than 50 per cent greater than for Wales as a whole.
· The Gnoll Park and woodlands are a beautiful oasis in our concrete jungle, they are enjoyed by many and should continue to be enjoyed by our future generations.
· There has been a failure by the local authority to adequately disseminate details of these candidate plans.
· Brynau Woods is one of the last remaining swathes of deciduous woodland on the hillside.
· The existing blot of houses on the skyline above the Cimla is proof enough of bad planning please don't compound the situation. Common sense please.
Why destroy most of the natural beauty and wildlife that exist in Cimla?
